Handmade carpets are very durable products that with age and natural wear often become more beautiful. However, there are some things you need to keep in mind to maintain it's original qualities. It is never good to beat the carpet with a hard object as this can damage the pile and loosen the knots (more about maintenance here). If you take care of your carpet you will be able to enjoy it for many years and one day you might notice that it actually increased in value.
